Morinda Bioactives to Host Third Annual Iridoid Research Symposium

  • PROVO, UT, Jul 24, 2012 -- Morinda Bioactives (formerly Tahitian Noni International) announced that the third annual International Iridoid Research Symposium will be held at their headquarters in Provo, Utah, on August 21st. Scientists from around the world will be presenting current research on iridoids in both plants and animals. The symposium is being presented by the International Society for Iridoid Research, which is an organization dedicated to the sharing of information and research being conducted on iridoids. Membership in the organization is open to individuals, educational institutions, and companies that have completed, or are currently conducting, research on iridoids. The primary goal of the society is to share current scientific information about iridoids and their properties.

Recap of the Second International Iridoid Research Symposium In 2011, the speakers and their topics included:

Brett West (United States) "Iridoid Metabolism and Activity" Dr. Biswanath Dinda (India) "Structural Classifications of Iridoids and their Impact on Major Pharmaceutical Efficacies" Dr. Il-Moo Chang (Korea) "Study on the Potential Anti-cancer Activities of Iridoids through the Down Regulation of Constitutive STAT3 Activation in Human Prostate Carcinoma DU145 Cells" Dr. Simla Basar (Germany)

"Occurrence of Iridoids in Noni Fruits and their Fate in the Body. Part 1 - Chemistry" Prof. Dr. Johannes Westendorf (Germany)

"Occurrence of Iridoids in Noni Fruits and their Fate in the Body. Part 2 - Biology" Fumiyuki Isami (Japan) "Biotopical Effects of Morinda citrifolia Iridoids" Akemi Uwaya (Japan) "Effects of Morinda citrifolia Extract and its Constituents / Iridoids on Blood Fluidity" Dr. Shixin Deng (China) "DAA effect on sodium channel inhibition and COX-2 inhibition in vitro" Dr. Zsolt Petendi (Hungary) "Iridoids - A Pharmacist's Prospective"

The conference brought over 250 scientists, academics, and organizations together from all over the world via live webinar broadcast to share what is being discovered about the functions of iridoids in plants and animals. The conference is currently posted on the Morinda Bioactive website. To view the presentations go to: http://gononi.com/united_states/english/link/training/recorded?id=386431
