Tahitian Noni Receives Novel Food Approval

  • Tahitian Noni International (www.TahitianNoni.com) has recently received approval from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) authorizing the use of the leaves of Morinda citrifolia (commonly known as noni) as a new novel food ingredient. The Commission of the European Communities has adopted the decision that at the anticipated levels of intake, the dried and roasted leaves of Morinda citrifolia are safe and may be marketed in the European Community as a novel food ingredient for the preparation of infusions.

Tahitian Noni International requested the designation since the noni leaf is the basis of the company's exclusive Tahitea(R) line of teas being sold worldwide. Current Tahitian Noni(R) products that use the noni leaf include Tahitea(R) Noni Jasmine Green, Calming Tahitian Serenity, Tahitian Earl Grey, Authentic Founder's Formula, Noni Lemon Iced Tea, and Spiced Chai.
