Reliv International won for its "Week of Caring" project in the company-sponsored volunteer project category. Held during National Volunteer Week in April, groups of Reliv employees took part in community service projects at five St. Louis area non-profit organizations, volunteering their time but also money and critical supplies.
The Reliv Kalogris Foundation, the company's charitable arm, won in the philanthropy category for the building of its second feeding center/school/community center in Bois Lance de Limonade, Haiti. The center is one of more than two dozen Reliv feeding centers that provide free nutritional supplements to thousands of Haitians every day.
"These awards represent great honors for Reliv, our employees and our distributors," said R. Scott Montgomery, chief operating officer of Reliv International and chairman of the Reliv Kalogris Foundation. "The 'Week of Caring' enables and encourages our employees to become engaged with organizations that perform important community services."
Montgomery added, "Our distributors generously donate money to support the work of the Reliv Foundation, which provides free nutritional supplements to more than 42,000 individuals daily in 10 countries. Some funds also are used to build feeding centers in poverty-stricken parts of the world, like Haiti."
The Communitas Awards program is an international effort to recognize the spirit of communitas - a Latin word referring to people coming together for the good of a community. The Communitas Awards program is an outgrowth of the pro bono recognition program of the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
