I agree... it sounds a bit sketchy to me as well.  Network marketing isn't for everyone. 

Network marketing is not an industry every person will love but those of us that love it and actually work it, it is freedom at its best!   I've actually decided to not move forward with LYF.  The product line is good, the company is good but in the end.......I'm sticking with my first love in this industry.
