About Me
After a career in banking, economic development, marketing and consulting I moved to Key Largo in August 2009 to pursue my passion for underwater photography. I spent many years as a “suit” and decided in 2009 to simplify my life and develop my skills as an underwater photographer and writer.
As a resident of the Florida Keys, I am aware of the fragility of the reef ecosystem and have the opportunity to work with the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF)as a documentary photographer.
In December 2010 I won the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park 50th Anniversary Celebration underwater photography contest. In January 2011, as a result of the exposure through the contest, I was offered a freelance contract to write the scuba diving column for The Reporter, a leading local newspaper here in the Keys.
Recently I was asked to participate as a member of the Ecosystem Protection Working Group for the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. We will be reviewing and evaluating existing marine reserve areas in the Florida Keys designated for the protection of our coral reef ecosystem. We will be recommending new or modified ecological reserves to ensure the protection of the Florida Keys, the third largest reef system in the world. Our goal is to put in place marine zoning that promotes the sustainable use of our submerged resources and to protect areas that represent diverse habitats.
I love what I do. I encourage you to follow your passion.
On top of all the water activities, and on the more pragmatic side of the equation, I am building an online business to support my photography projects and enable me to travel to new destinations to extend my work beyond the Florida Keys. I have been researching, trying out and refining my selections in the online space for about two years. What I will be presenting in this blog are my picks for building a sustainable online system of tools and income streams. If you are looking for ways to supplement your income, or just want to chat about photography, coral reef ecology or scuba diving, feel free to contact me anytime.
Bear in mind, with my lifestyle, I do not want to be tethered to a computer 24/7. I need to be in the water! So part of the selection process includes a time element – time for me to do what I want with my camera underwater!
I trust you have a similar time element – family, travel, school, or whatever it is you want to support so you can live the way you want to live and be the pers
